It is now practically confirmed that Samsung will exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in the Galaxy S23. The company will reportedly no longer use an Exynos chipset in its 2023 flagship smartphone series. The Galaxy S23's processor has now been confirmed through a benchmark listing.

The unlocked US version of the Galaxy S23+ (SM-S916U) was spotted in Geekbench's database, revealing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor (with Adreno 740 GPU), 8GB of RAM, and Android 13 operating system. It also means that the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature the same processor. The Asian and European versions of the phones will reportedly feature the same processor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is expected to be a 4nm (TSMC) chipset with one Cortex-X3 CPU core, two Cortex-A715 CPU cores, two Cortex-A710 CPU cores, and three Cortex-A510 CPU cores. Since it uses ARM's newest-generation CPU cores and a power-efficient TSMC 4nm process, the chipset could offer impressive power efficiency, offering longer battery life.

Qualcomm will unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the third week of November 2022. The rival Dimensity 9200 chipset from MediaTek will be announced on November 8. Both these chipsets will reportedly offer GPU performance that's better than Apple's A16 Bionic. Samsung has reportedly assembled a team of over a thousand engineers to work on its own chipset for 2025.
