Samsung cuts Ultra HD TV prices

Samsung had hinted a price drop was going to happen on its Ultra HD TVs, following reduction in OLED TV prices, and now that price drop has finally gone into effect, according to multiple retailers in the U.S. Samsung’s UN55F9000 55-inch Ultra HD will now carry a new $4,499 unilateral pricing policy (UPP) tag, where the UPP prevents retailers from selling the product at a lower price than Samsung intends.

That's a $1000 drop reduction from its earlier price on Amazon, and even bigger is the drop on the 65-inch UN65F900 model, which went down $1,500 to $5,999 UPP. These are still steep prices, but for four times higher resolution than Full HD displays, a high price is something consumers are going to have to pay, until Ultra HD TVs become more popular.
