The Galaxy Gear has seen a lot of developers and companies lining up to support it, but consumer interest has been mostly lukewarm. But Samsung is already taking steps to rectify that, as according to a report from the Korean media, the company is already working on the second iteration of the Gear, tentatively titled Galaxy Gear 2. Furthermore, the sequel could see an announcement as soon as CES in January or at MWC in February.
Samsung had recently revealed that more devices in its smartwatch range were coming, and that the first Gear was more a test of demand for the product. Of course, when you consider the Gear only works with the costly Galaxy Note 3 and the equally costly Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition at this point, it's not the least bit surprising that consumers have not taken to it too kindly. The report does mention that the Gear 2 might be compatible with all Android smartphones (and also include GPS functionality), a goal Samsung has said they are working towards, but we'll believe it when we see it.
