The Tizen alliance has confirmed that car makers like Toyota, Jaguar and Landrover are working to integrate Tizen in their cars as an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system. The reason for companies adopting Tizen is “open scalability,” says Mark Skarpness, director of Systems Engineering in the Open Source Technology Center at Intel.
Clearly, Samsung and Intel's intentions to put Tizen goes beyond a regular smartphone or a tablet. A Tizen TV has already been confirmed, Samsung is already shipping NX300M camera that runs on Tizen Camera platform and Skarpness has also hinted to bring Tizen to wearable devices as well as refrigerators.
Tizen 3.0 was unveiled yesterday that will expand the platform's availability to lower-end devices due its smaller footprint.
