The tablet market is where Samsung is expected to focus a large part of its resources in the coming year, including tablets with 12.2-inch and larger screens and even those with AMOLED displays. Last we heard, the Korean firm was targeting shipments of 42 million tablets in 2014, but according to the latest report out of the Korean media, Samsung has now more than doubled that target to a whopping 100 million units.
ET News cites company management and industry analysts and says that Samsung has started checking their supply chain to make sure they have enough parts and materials to actually manufacture so many tablets. While smartphone parts such as antennas and camera modules are available aplenty for use in tablets, parts such as touch screen panels and printed circuit boards are where the bottleneck currently resides, and Samsung is trying to make sure they can increase production in order to meet their rather lofty goal.
