Samsung was in a soup in October when the US court found that documents accessible only to Samsung attorneys got in the hands of Korean company’s executives. Apple quickly moved to the court asking for a sanction for Samsung’s action but according to a new order by United States Magistrate Judge Paul S. Grewal, Samsung and its law firm have escaped the sanction but were ordered to pick up court costs.
Good thing about Samsung is that Nokia and Apple weren’t able to prove that the leaked document was used to Samsung’s advantage but did conclude that Samsung’s law firm failed to “notify the relevant parties at the relevant times, and that [Samsung in-house lawyer Daniel] Shim made use of the information.”
