When it comes to updates, Samsung phones always lead the way. They are among the first ones to receive major firmware updates and also the leading ones to receive security updates. Well, Samsung phones aren't the only ones receiving updates at the moment. The best Android smartwatches, i.e., the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4, are picking up new updates through Verizon.
Though the update does not bring any new features for the Galaxy Watch 5 or the Galaxy Watch 4, the changelog does highlight that it “provides performance improvements and enhancements to your device.” Such updates always deal with some internal bugs or glitches that are off the radar of a normal user.
However, you can't rule out the arrival of slightly tweaked UI and feature changes. Unfortunately, nothing specific is mentioned in the changelog. The new update arrives with firmware version R925USQU1AVK6 for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and R905USQU1AVK6 (40mm) / R915USQU1AVK6 (44mm) for the Galaxy Watch 5.
If you own a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, your watch will be getting firmware version R885USQU1GVK6 for the 42mm variant and R895USQU1GVK6 for the 46mm variant. On the other hand, if you own a Galaxy Watch 4, the new firmware versions are R865USQU1GVK6 for the 40mm variant and R875USQU1GVK6 for the 44mm variant.
To check if the update is available for your Galaxy Watch 5 or Galaxy Watch 4, you need to open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone, then go into the Watch Settings menu, select Watch software update, and tap Download and install.
