Looks like that O2 Germany teaser site was right on the money, as a Samsung executive has confirmed that the Galaxy S5 will go on sale in three weeks’ time. Samsung is set to officially unveil the Galaxy S5 on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress, which gives the manufacturer two weeks to launch the device. The most recent Galaxy S5 leaks mention a finger scanner that is embedded into the home button. As far as hardware is concerned, the Galaxy S5 will feature a 5.2-inch full-HD screen for the regular version and a QHD screen for the all-metallic variant.
Other hardware details include 3 GB RAM, Snapdragon 800/805 CPU and maybe even the new Exynos Infinity, 16 or 21 MP ISOCELL camera and a design that is said to be bezel-free. Along with the hardware, the software is also set for a major overhaul, with the Galaxy S5 set to be the first device to feature the new TouchWiz UI. The standard device will also be water and dust resistant, thereby negating the need for a more rugged Active version.
