The Galaxy Tab Pro and Galaxy Note Pro tablets have just recently started selling globally, but it looks like Samsung is already at work on its next high-end tablet offering. We came across a UAProf listing of a device with a model number SM-T805. The numbering indicates that it will likely be a high-end offering, considering that the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 has a model number SM-T900. We have other details that indicate that the device might be a high-end tablet. For starters, the screen resolution is listed as 2560 x 1600, which is the same as that of the Galaxy Tab Pro tablets and the Galaxy Note Pro. The tablet is also running Android 4.4 KitKat.
While that is all we have to go on for now, it is likely that this is the tablet with the curved margins that was seen in the patent filing. The filing detailed a device with curved left and right margins that would allow users to hold the device more comfortably. Or, the device might be the latest AMOLED tablet from Samsung. In December, it was revealed that Samsung has begun mass producing AMOLED screens for tablets, with 8-inch and 10-inch devices set to be launched in the first quarter. It is believed that Samsung would continue using LCD screens on its entry-level and mid-tier offerings, while using AMOLED screens on high-end devices. The SM-T805 might be the first such device. While all of this is conjecture, what we can confirm through our internal source is that device-related software for the SM-T805 is underway at Samsung, which means that the manufacturer has finalized the hardware.
Update: The SM-T800 and SM-T801 have also been listed, which is a clear indication that there will be different variants that come in Wi-Fi only, 3G and LTE configurations.
