Rumors of a Gear smartwatch with a built-in SIM slot and cellular connectivity, dubbed the Gear Solo, have been making the rounds for a couple of months now. However, there hadn't been any concrete pointers towards the device's existence, but that's changing today: a Gear 2 Solo has appeared at the Indian import tracking site Zauba, indicating that the SIM-enabled smartwatch is currently undergoing testing. Its model number is listed as SM-R710, and the unit price is Rs 12,292 (~ $204) – that suggests it will be priced at around $300 in retail, similar to the original Galaxy Gear and the Gear 2, though we wouldn't be surprised if the price tag is even higher because of the added cost of building in a cellular radio.
Alas, there's still no word on when the Gear 2 Solo will be made official, though it could be around the time the Galaxy S5 mini makes its debut. In any case, we'll be keeping an eye out for more information.
