SamMobile Recap: Unofficial Galaxy S III KitKat ROM, Gear Glass rumors, Fake leather battery packs

There’s a lot of stuff that happens in the tech industry, something that is especially true when it comes to giants like Samsung. If you missed out on some (or all) of what happened in the last 24 hours or so, well, here’s a recap of all the big things that went down.

A new report made its way online to once again talk about the Galaxy S5 Prime, suggesting that it could launch in markets as early as in mid-June. On the wearable side of things, Samsung's Gear Glass is said to be on track for an official announcement at IFA in September, along with the Galaxy Note 4. Come around to the software world, and it was quite the day for Galaxy S III owners – Samsung said the device would not be updated to KitKat, so the developer community took matters into their own hands and released a port of the KitKat ROM from the Galaxy Note II for the third-generation Galaxy S.

We saw a new ad in Samsung's GALAXY 11 campaign for the FIFA World Cup, and in what could only be deemed rather unnecessary, the company announced a 6,000 mAh battery pack that features a design with fake leather and stitching. That's the same thing we saw on the Galaxy Note 3, and while it fits well on a phone, we're not sure it has a place on accessories that will mostly be lying at your desk rather than spending time in your hands.

Here's the full rundown:

As usual, a lot of devices got firmware updates as well, so here’s a list of all the updates that rolled to Samsung devices yesterday (as always, you can find all the firmware you need in our firmware section):
