SamMobile Recap: Galaxy S5 Active leaks on video, Galaxy S5 goes on police duty, and more

There’s a lot of stuff that happens in the tech industry, something that is especially true when it comes to giants like Samsung. If you missed out on some (or all) of what happened in the last 24 hours or so, well, here’s a recap of all the big things that went down.

The Galaxy S5 Active received an impromptu hands-on video, revealing the upcoming handset in full glory before Samsung could announce it. Rumors broke out that the Galaxy S5 could be making its way into the hands of the Dutch police, who would use its fingerprint sensor for scanning the fingerprints of suspects and other folks and also use it for fining and badge scanning. A gigantic extended battery came out for the Galaxy S5, aiming to double the battery life that can be achieved on Samsung's latest flagship.

Samsung's plans to launch a new video rental service in Asia were revealed, which we're not sure will be making its way to the Western world any time soon. The Copper Gold Galaxy S5 was announced as heading to all major US carriers by the end of this month; meanwhile, a Dutch court upheld a ban on existing Samsung devices as part of its lawsuit with Apple, though this ban doesn't mean much as it was only for now out-of-market phones like the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Ace.

Here’s the full rundown:

As usual, a lot of devices got firmware updates as well, so here’s a list of all the updates that rolled to Samsung devices yesterday (as always, you can find all the firmware you need in our firmware section):
