According to Korean publication Yonhap News, Samsung will announce the Gear Solo alongside the Galaxy Note 4 during IFA 2014. The Gear Solo which was leaked earlier this year will feature a SIM card slot, this adding an ability to make voice calls independently. As of now, Android Wear doesn't support SIM cards and Google has not yet authorised anyone to customise it. So we assume that the Gear Solo will be based on Tizen and will be costlier than other Gear smartwatches because of the inbuilt SIM card slot. It is unclear how Samsung has planned to manage the battery drain on the Gear Solo. Devices with cellular radios have to constantly search for signals and tiny batteries that are used in smartwatches might not be sufficient.
The Gear Solo (model number SM-R710) was earlier spotted heading to India for testing purpose with a unit price of Rs 12,292 (~ $204).
