We've known for some time that Samsung is working on various new wearables, including a Gear smartwatch with cellular connectivity and the Gear VR, a virtual reality headset. Today, SamMobile has received information on the former device, and also on a new Gear smartwatch with a circular design similar to the Moto 360 (and LG's upcoming watch, which it teased very recently.) According to our source, the Gear VR won't be the only wearable announced alongside the Galaxy Note 4 – it will be accompanied by the SIM-enabled Gear, something that has been reported a few times in the past as well.
As for the smartwatch with a round display, we've heard that it is under development as an answer to the Moto 360 and also to LG's upcoming circular watch, which isn't surprising considering a lot of folks have shown interest in round smartwatches, thanks to the fact that these look more like traditional watches while offering all the functionality expected from a smartwatch. What our source didn't tell us is when the circular Gear will be made official, though we're guessing it will be a few months after the Galaxy Note 4 gets launched. It's also unclear if the watch will be powered by Tizen or Android Wear – it could be either, and we will only find out for certain when it goes official or until some concrete details surface in the future.
