Samsung has big plans for home automation, having recently acquired SmartThings for about $200 million. Now Samsung has announced that it will be holding a keynote at IFA 2014 to discuss about its ‘Home of the Future’ vision. Boo-Keun Yoon, President and one of the Chief Executive Officers at Samsung, will deliver the opening keynote speech on 5th September where he will discuss the importance and future of home automation and the company's commitment to innovation in that regard.
“The IFA trade show has a long history of showcasing the latest in technology innovation,” Mr. Yoon said. “Samsung will once again be joining the dialogue at IFA to discuss where true innovation lies today – and how it is transforming our lives and the way we live.”
It appears that home automation might be the next big thing after wearables. During WWDC 2014, Apple had unveiled its home automation plans with HomeKit, while Google acquired Nest Labs for $3.2 billion and Dropcam for $555 million.
