AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S4 mini gets VoLTE support in latest update

Users of the Galaxy S4 mini on AT&T's network will now be able to make calls over the carrier's 4G LTE network, thanks to the latest update that has started pushing out to the device. In addition to VoLTE support, the update will also enable the ability to make emergency calls to 911 even when there is no SIM card in the phone, though that's the extent of the changes on offer (and yes, this is still Android 4.4.2.) The update (build number I257UCU2BNK1) is currently rolling out over the air and ranges in size from 102MB to 595MB depending on the software build that a device is currently running.

As usual, you can expect to be waiting a few days before the OTA reaches your device. Of course, you could try forcing the update to show up right now by going into the Settings » About phone » Software updates menu, though there's never a guarantee that will work. But then again, trying never cost anyone any money, did it?
