A few days before 2015 came along to replace the extremely eventful previous year, word broke out of a new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 for the South Korean market. Called the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE, this new variant will be the first commercial smartphone to feature support for Cat. 9 LTE, with the ability to achieve theoretical download speeds of 450Mbps. The device was rumored to be launching in mid-January, and now a report from ETNews has revealed that consumers in South Korea will be able to buy the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE starting this week.

The Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE will support SK Telecom's new LTE-A network that was launched last month, and will be powered by an Exynos 5433 processor with a new modem that enables Cat. 9 LTE. Other than the faster internet speeds, the device will be the same as the standard Galaxy Note 4 variant, with specs including a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, 32GB of on-board storage, fingerprint, heart rate, and UV sensors, a 3.7-megapixel front camera, and a 3,220mAh battery.

It's not known what version of Android the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE will come with out of the box, but it will likely be Android 4.4 KitKat and not Lollipop. Also unknown is the pricing of the device; given the high price of the normal Galaxy Note 4, you can expect the S-LTE variant to be similarly priced at a premium.
