At Mobile World Congress 2015 Samsung unveiled its two new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge, which bring an impressive power package in a beautifully designed and constructed body that's already receiving a lot of praise. A new report claims Samsung has received a record 20 million pre-orders for these smartphones, 15 million for the Galaxy S6 and 5 million for the Galaxy S6 edge. To be clear these numbers reflect the units that carriers around the world have ordered from Samsung, not what they've managed to sell to customers.
A report from The Korea Times cites a “top executive at a leading mobile carrier” who said that Samsung has received 20 million pre-orders for the new smartphones. “This is the record,” the executive is quoted as saying, he also added that his company has come away with a “positive impression” of all aspects of the two new Galaxy S smartphones. Samsung's carrier partners really do seem to be betting big on these devices. During MWC Samsung's mobile chief J.K. Shin said that pre-orders of the two Galaxy variants from the company's major clients “are really huge.” Shin expects sales of the Galaxy S6 to be higher than its predecessor.
