The Apple Watch may be the most talked about kit of wearable tech at the moment, but there's some good news for Apple's prime competitor as well i.e., Samsung. It turns out that Samsung hasn't being doing too bad on the smartwatch market too. According to analyst firm Statista, Samsung is in fact the number one smartwatch vendor.
The company's Gear lineup of smartwatches propel it to the number one spot, with a massive 17.65% market share. The report also goes on to state that Samsung sold a cumulative total of 1.2 million smartwatches in the year 2014, followed by a not-so-close second Pebble with 700,000 shipments. Samsung's smartwatches are generally priced in the mid-segment of the price bracket, thus giving the company a good chance to showcase its prowess to the widest audience.
