Another US carrier has started updating one of Samsung's devices to Android 5.0. As you guessed it from the title, that device is the Galaxy Note 3 and the carrier is US Cellular. The update is based on Android 5.0 and comes with build version N900R4TYUCOC3 – it's a tad shameful that the update isn't based on a more recent version of Lollipop, but it hopefully comes with some of the fixes from Android 5.0.1 and above.
Expect this update to be everything that the update for other Samsung flagships from the past two years has been. There's a Material Design-inspired UI, lockscreen notifications, improved performance, and a generally better user experience to be had. The update can either be grabbed from Samsung Kies, or over the air. It will be a few days before it reaches every Note 3 on US Cellular out there, but you can try to speed up the process by hitting the Check now button in the Settings » About phone » Software update menu.
Oh, by the way, US Cellular's update for the Note 3 completes the list of major US carriers to have updated the device to Lollipop. Check out a preview of Android 5.0 running on the Galaxy Note 3 in the video below.
