It seems that Samsung has started pushing notification advertisements to certain users according to AndroidPolice. One of the ads comes from the bundled Peel Remote App, which is interesting given their latest statement. It appears that the ads are delivered using the Samsung Push Service which is meant to deliver notification support for things such as Samsung Pay, Samsung Link and many others. The peel ads come from the app itself, but in other cases, ads are delivered using services such as the Android Beaming Service, which can't be turned off on the Galaxy S4 for instance.
Regardless, this is most likely going to turn out to be a very unpopular feature among Samsung's customers, particularly given that one of the ads was for the Galaxy S6 edge+. You should also be aware that Samsung isn't the first company to practice push-based notification ads, after HTC used the same sort of system to advertise for the latest Fantastic Four movie.
