It looks like Samsung might be collaborating with Xiaomi and other brands on a laptop that is supposed to be released next year. This is pretty surprising considering the fact that Samsung is competing with Xiaomi for the top spot in the Asian smartphone market.

Xiaomi has some big plans for this laptop, and according to Bloomberg, Samsung will supply memory chips and display panels to Xiaomi for this laptop. A separate report from DigiTimes states that laptop will run Linux out of the box, feature a 15-inch display, and will have a price tag that revolves around the $470 mark. However, reports from DigiTimes should be taken with a pinch of salt as they have a poor track record when it comes to accuracy,

This sort of laptop is meant to compete with Apple's MacBook devices, and it's a logical move from Xiaomi. Samsung produces some amazing components so we can see how this sort of laptop could take the cake in Asia, especially against Xiaomi's rivals like Lenovo, which currently has a 20-25% market share in China's notebook market.
