With the Gear S2, Samsung made the sensible decision of opening up its smartwatch platform to all Android devices, instead of keeping it limited to those from its Galaxy lineup. Samsung had hinted at the possibility of iOS getting support for the Gear S2 as well, with a recent rumor suggesting Apple's iPhones will be able to pair with the watch as soon as the end of this year.
For any product, supporting iOS is always a good step towards wider acceptability, and Samsung would certainly see an influx on new consumers if the Gear S2 starts working on the iPhone. The Gear S2 is possibly the best smartwatch in the industry in terms of design and usability, with the bezel ring being critically acclaimed as an intuitive way of controlling a smartwatch.
