Samsung is doing pretty well this year according to Gartner, which just released a market study based on worldwide smartphone sales by manufacturer and by operating system. Last year Samsung sold 72,929.4 units during the third quarter, covering 23.9 percent of the worldwide smartphone market. This year they managed to sell 83,586.7 units, the equivalent of 23.7 percent of the market which rose from 305,384 units in Q3 last year to 352,844 units in Q3 2015. It's clear that Samsung has a pretty positive growth which can be seen in their last earnings report that brought the company's first profit growth in years.
In terms of mobile phone sales during the third quarter, Samsung rose 1.1 percent from last year where they sold 93,620 units as opposed to 102,063 units throughout Q3 2015. It's a significant growth but not the biggest. Out of all manufacturers, Huawei rose the sharpest with a 2.5 percent increase in smartphone sales to end users in Q3 2015.
