Samsung is slated to unveil the Galaxy S7 during MWC 2016 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard, but it is not forgetting its current-generation and even last-generation smartphones. We know from quite some time that the South Korean smartphone giant is working on Marshmallow update for a lot of high-end devices. Now, SamsungViet is reporting an alleged timeline for the release of Android 6.0 updates for several Samsung smartphones and tablets including the Galaxy S6 trio and the Galaxy Note series.
According to the publication, twelve smartphones from Samsung will receive Android 6.0 updates in Q1, 2016. This includes the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note 4 Duos, the Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy S6 edge+, the Galaxy S6 edge, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Duos, the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S5 Neo, and the Galaxy S5 LTE-A. The report also states that other devices such as the Galaxy Alpha, the Galaxy Tab A, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, and the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will receive the Marshmallow sweetness during Q2, 2016.
As always, you should take such information with a pinch of salt as we can't say for sure if this information is accurate till Samsung actually releases the updates for its devices. However, we've seen some reports displaying Android Marshmallow running on the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S6. T-Mobile had listed all the Samsung devices that are bound to receive the latest version of Android in the first round.
