Samsung, which has consistently been India's largest smartphone manufacturer for the past few years, is now claiming that its market share has increased from 35 percent in 2014 to 46 percent in 2015. According to PTI, Manu Sharma, director for mobiles business at Samsung India Electronics, said during the launch of the Galaxy A5 (2016) and the Galaxy A7 (2016) that the company's smartphone market share in India now stands at 45.9 percent.

The South Korean electronics giant now has an overall market share of 44 percent across all the segments. Mr. Sharma said that Samsung is working on bringing innovations to the market with a strong focus on research and development. “We have 10,000 engineers working to really differentiate our offering in the market by bringing innovations,” he said. The company is manufacturing all its mobile devices in india except the Gear VR and the Gear S2.

Samsung had been facing a stiff competition in the Indian market from brands like Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Micromax and Lenovo, but it looks like the company is back on track, especially after launching value-for-money devices in Galaxy J series and Galaxy On series of smartphones. The company recently announced that it will start offering dual-SIM versions of its high-end smartphones starting this year. It has already launched the Galaxy Note 5 dual SIM in India.
