Samsung has announced that Samsung Pay has been launched in Puerto Rico today. It supports eligible credit cards from Banco Popular which is Puerto Rico's largest bank. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Claro users will be able to use Samsung Pay with their Banco Popular cards. It goes without saying that Samsung Pay will get support for more financial institutions in Puerto Rico in the coming months.
Customers in Puerto Rico will be able to pay almost everywhere they can pay by card with Samsung Pay due to the fact that it has support for both NFC and MST. This enables merchants to accept Samsung Pay with their existing credit card machines so they don't have to spend money on expensive mobile payment terminals. Samsung Pay's Puerto Rico launch follows its recent launches in Spain, Singapore, and Australia. The mobile payments service is going to be expanded to the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Canada later this year.
