Factory Reset Protection bypassed on all recent Samsung flagships

Many Android-powered handsets from Samsung have the Factory Reset Protection feature which should, at least in theory, make it impossible for someone to factory reset a misplaced or stolen device and either continue using it or sell it off after completely wiping it clean. Less than a year ago we came across a video which demonstrated just how easily FRP could be bypassed on Samsung devices in under ten minutes. A new video has now been posted online by the same person again demonstration how easily it still is to bypass Factory Reset Protection and that too on recent Samsung flagships like the Galaxy S7, it's said that this method would even work on the Galaxy Note 7 as well.

Now there is a scenario where you would want to bypass FRP for purely legitimate reasons. For example, you want to sell your phone but can't disable FRP because you no longer remember the credentials of the account you used to set it up with. You can't wipe the handset clean and sell it off unless FRP is taken care of and in such a scenario this bypass method will be nothing short of a lifesaver. However, someone could just as easily use this method to sell stolen handsets after wiping them, so it really depends on the person how they use this method. The video details everything there is to know in order to bypass Factory Reset Protection on some of the greatest handsets Samsung has ever made. You would have thought that after last year's episode the company would have made some changes to shore up the FRP's defenses but clearly that's not the case.

Samsung doesn't pretend like the Galaxy S23 Ultra isn't the spiritual successor to the now-canceled Galaxy Note series. The company embraced this identity, and in some of its online stores for key regions, it even dedicated an entire “Upgrade your Galaxy Note” section on Galaxy S23 Ultra landing pages. In this section dedicated to Galaxy […]

Samsung says the Galaxy S7 isn’t a phone so it shouldn’t be taxed as one

Samsung has apparently tried to reclassify the Galaxy S7 as anything but a telephone for cellular networks in South Africa in an attempt to convince the South Africa Revenue Service (SARS) to lower import tariffs and get a tax refund. The company failed in its endeavor because, well, the Galaxy S7 is a phone after all, […]
