It seems that Samsung is in the final stages of testing the Android 7.0 update for the Galaxy S6 as a model of the handset running a build of Nougat has surfaced on the GFXBench online database. Typically, when a device is benchmarked operating a new flavor of Android, it indicates that a rollout is right around the corner.
It's worth noting, however, that it's relatively easy to falsify benchmark results, but seeing as we reported last week that the South Korean company had already started developing the Nougat firmware for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, we're going to go out on a limb and say that this revelation is somewhat plausible. Naturally, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be the first to receive Nougat, followed by the S6 lineup and the Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung is currently running a beta program for Android Nougat on the Galaxy S7 devices in various regions. As usual, there is no word on when the company will start rolling out the official update; we're hoping the moment comes sooner rather than later following the Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
