McAfee has announced that its security software will come pre-installed on the Galaxy S8 as well as on Samsung's smart TVs and PCs worldwide. The McAfee LiveSafe security software is shipping on all Samsung PCs shipping this year, and users get a 60-day free trial, after which they will receive special offers if they wish to continue with the product.

McAfee Security for TV is currently available only in the US and South Korea for Samsung's Smart TV customers, but it will be expanded to other markets later this year. McAfee VirusScan for smartphones will come pre-installed with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, starting in April 2017. It will also be available free of cost for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7, and the Galaxy S7 edge.

As the connected world of devices continues to expand into consumers’ homes, Samsung users can feel comfortable knowing that their devices are protected with the latest security solutions. We understand the importance of building security into devices from the start and are proud to offer solutions that provide convenience while keeping our customers safe,” said Henry Lee, VP of Mobile Security Technologies, and the Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.

This new agreement is one of the first to be announced by McAfee after it became a separate company. Founded in 1987, McAfee was acquired by Intel in 2011. However, Intel announced last month that McAfee would become a standalone business. Intel still owns 49 percent of McAfee.
