Samsung launched its high-end, QLED TVs earlier this year, and they come with improved picture quality, new software features, and better designs. Now, the company has announced that it is hosting an accessory designing competition for its QLED TVs in collaboration with Deezen, one of the leading design and architectural magazine. It's a €30,000 competition, and the grand prize for the best designer is €8,000.
The company's first ever global TV accessory design competition will run from June 16 to August 1. Designers who are interested in participating in this contest need to submit their QLED TV stand designs along with corresponding strategic business plans. Top five finalists will be invited to IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany where their designs will be showcased at Samsung's booth, and a grand prize winner will be announced.
“We want to give everyone, including our consumers, the opportunity to show off their creativity and help us design the next big TV accessory. Samsung’s ultimate vision is to create an open platform for designers all over the world where they can showcase their ingenuity through unique stand designs that fit into a variety of home environments,” said HS.Kim, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
Samsung is positioning its new QLED TVs and The Frame as lifestyle TVs that not only have great picture quality but they're great to look at as well. Moreover, consumers can choose from two TV stands – Gravity and Studio – to suit whatever goes well with the rest of their room's interior design. These new TVs also come with an ‘Invisible Connection', a clear-colored optical cable that makes the TV setup look super clean, void of any clutter.
