Samsung detailed the August Security Maintenance Release for its smartphones a couple of weeks ago. The company has since been rolling it out for all supported devices. We've already seen it land on devices like the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S8.
The company is now rolling out the August security patch update for the Galaxy A5 (2016). The latest security update has been rolled out for this device soon after it received the July security patch not too long ago.
Firmware version A510FXXU4CQH2 is now being rolled out for this handset by Samsung. August security patch update for the Galaxy A5 (2016) weighs in at 215MB. The August security patch patches 28 vulnerabilities in the Android operating system.
It also brings fixes for 12 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE), those are the bugs that were discovered in Samsung's software. The changelog mentions that this update installs the Facebook app on the device.
Those who own an unlocked Galaxy A5 (2016) should receive an over-the-air update notification in the near future informing them that this update is now available for download on their handset. They can also try manually pulling the update by heading over to the Settings app and going into the Software Update menu.
