The Vodafone Galaxy S7 August update is now being rolled out. It's been a while since the carrier updated the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge in the Netherlands. Prior to this update, both devices were running on the May security patch. It seems that the need for the Blueborne fix has forced the company to finally send out a security maintenance release for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
Vodafone Galaxy S7 August Update
Vodafone is now rolling out firmware version G930FXXU1DQIC and G935FXXU1DQIC for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, respectively. The update brings the August security patch and the Blueborne fix.
Blueborne is a Bluetooth-based vulnerability that was discovered recently. Hackers can use this exploit to gain unauthorized access to a target's device. The exploit can even be used to run remote code and steal data from the device.
Samsung and its carrier partners have spent the better part of last month rolling out the Blueborne fix. That's one of the reasons why it didn't release the September security patch for many devices.
The Vodafone Galaxy S7 August update is now being rolled out in the Netherlands. Hopefully, the next security update won't take as long as this did to arrive. Samsung detailed the October security patch recently and it should begin rolling out to more devices soon.
