Samsung today announced the launch of the Galaxy Tab A with Bixby Home in its home country of South Korea. The tablet will be available in Wi-Fi and 4G models. It features an 8-inch display and has been designed for convenience and practicality.
Measuring in at 8.9mm thin, the tablet has a metal back for a luxury look and feel. The edges have been rounded to provide users with a comfortable grip.
Galaxy Tab A with Bixby Home
The Galaxy Tab A features Bixby Home. It's the card-based contextual interface of Samsung's digital assistant. Bixby Reminder is onboard as well.
There's also a new Home Mode that can be used to display useful information such as time, calendar and weather while the tablet is being charged. The mode also enables it to double as a photo frame to show up to 50 photos from the gallery.
It has an 8-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera. Users can enable a floating camera button that can be placed on any part of the screen for easier accessibility.
The Galaxy Tab A is powered by a 1.4GHz processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There's a 5,000mAh battery and a microSD card slot. The 8-inch WXGA display has 1280×800 pixel resolution.
Samsung is selling the Wi-Fi model for 264,000 or $240 and the LTE Galaxy Tab A for 308,000 or $280.
