Samsung has just officially announced the smartphones in the United States which will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Sprint and Verzion have already received Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Sprint's Samsung Nexus S 4G is also already rocking the Jelly Bean update. As these are Google's Nexus devices they are the first ever devices which get updated to the latest revision of Android.
Samsung Galaxy S III for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular will also be receiving an update to Android 4,1 Jelly Bean. Samsung didn't gave us an official time frame for the updates but we think the updates will start rolling out really soon. We already got few Jelly Bean firmware leaks for the AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint Galaxy S III, so we know that Samsung is currently working really hard on the updates.
There is no mention of the Galaxy S II US variants though Samsung official announced the Jelly Bean update for the international variant.
You may ask, why do Google's nexus devices are updated to the latest Android revision? The answer is, Google's Nexus devices have a pure Android Experience in other words they have no custom UI overlay on top of them so not much testing is required whereas other vendors need to port their UI and software related features or tweaks to the latest Android revision and then they need to test the updates extensively so they know they are stable. That's why Google's Nexus devices are the first ones to get an update to the latest Android version.
