AT&T was the first carrier to release the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update in the United States. Verizon and Sprint also released the update for Samsung's flagship phablet on their networks earlier this week which means T-Mobile is the only carrier that hasn't released Oreo for the Galaxy Note 8 as yet. The company is going to rectify that today. T-Mobile has confirmed that it's going to release the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update today.
Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update
Yes, today might be April Fools' Day but this isn't a joke. T-Mobile's product manager and star of its awesome unboxing videos Des Smith has confirmed on Twitter that the company is going to start rolling out the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update as early as Sunday night. He mentioned in his tweet that the Oreo update for the Galaxy Note 8 has been approved and even gave a “No April Fool's here” disclaimer.
With T-Mobile also rolling out the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update in the United States, all four major carriers will have updated that phablet to the latest Android platform iteration. Only the unlocked variants will remain and Samsung has said that it intends to release the update for those variants as well in a couple of weeks. Even though all major carriers have released Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, the unlocked variants have yet to receive the update in the US as well.
Magenta subscribers in the United States should expect to receive the Oreo update for the Galaxy Note 8 in a few hours. It's likely going to be a phased rollout as all carrier firmware updates tend to be which means that not all Galaxy Note 8 owners might get it at the same time on T-Mobile. Give it a few hours and the over-the-air update notification will certainly pop up on your device. You can also try manually checking for the update by heading over the Software update menu in the Settings app.
