The May 2018 security patch was released for the Galaxy S9 a few hours ago, bringing Samsung's latest flagship up to par with some older and cheaper devices on the security front. The Galaxy S8 had received a similar update a few days back over in China, and Samsung has now released the May security patch update for the Galaxy Note 8. Surprisingly, it's North America where the update is rolling out. It's available for unlocked units of the phablet from various carriers, with build number N950U1UES4CRE1.
Galaxy Note 8 May 2018 security patch
The May security patch comes with fixes for six critical Android vulnerabilities and seven Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items or vulnerabilities that affect the company's software. The update that brings the latest patch to the Galaxy Note 8 doesn't include anything other than enhanced security, although that does mean Android 8.0 Oreo is running fine and dandy on the device. If you own a Note 8, you should be able to download the update by tapping Download updates manually in the Software update section of the phone's Settings app. Our firmware section has the full firmware files for the update as well, so you can hop on to the latest software available for your Galaxy Note 8 if you're unable to access it over the air.
