The latest Galaxy A5 (2017) update for India is now rolling out. The firmware update brings the October 2018 security patch that Samsung detailed a few days back. This month's security maintenance release has already been released for the Galaxy Note 9. It will eventually start rolling out for more devices in the coming days.

The security patch for the month of October 2018 includes fixes from both Samsung and Google. There are fixes for a dozen critical vulnerabilities discovered in the Android OS in addition to fixes for many high and moderate-risk vulnerabilities. Samsung has fixed 11 vulnerabilities in its own software as well with this security maintenance release.
The Galaxy A5 (2017) is now receiving firmware version A520FXXU7CRID in India. It bumps up the security patch level to October 2018. There's not much in the way of new features with this update. It's an incremental update after all so the device remains on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Those who own the Galaxy A5 (2017) in India will now be able to download the update manually from the Settings » Software update menu on the phone. They can choose to wait for the update notification which should arrive soon as well if it hasn't already. It's also available for download from our firmware section.
Samsung will also be rolling out the October 2018 security patch to more devices in the coming days. The Galaxy A5 (2017) will also receive this update in other markets in the not too distant future.
