North American carrier T-Mobile has released a new update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, bringing support for RCS Universal Profile 1.0. Thanks to Universal Profile 1.0 support, Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners will be able to send files up to 100 MB in size via standard messaging to other users with Universal Profile 1.0 support on their devices.

The new Galaxy S8 update on T-Mobile also includes the October 2018 security patch. The update comes with software version G950USQU5CRIB and G955USQU5CRIB for the S8 and S8+ respectively and is a 400 MB download over the air. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are reportedly receiving Universal Profile 1.0 support on T-Mobile as well, although the carrier doesn't mention it in the changelog for the latest Galaxy S7 update (build number G930TUVS8CRJ1) on its website.

To download the latest update on your Galaxy S8 or S8+, open the Settings app on the phone, go into the Software update section, then tap Download updates manually. You can also download the complete firmware from our database (Galaxy S8 | S8+ | Galaxy S7 | S7 edge)if you can't access the over-the-air update.
