We confirmed the model numbers of the three main Galaxy S10 variants months ago. Samsung also has a 5G Galaxy S10 that it will release in selected markets next year. The model number for this handset has reportedly been spotted. It also suggests that this handset may only be released in the United States and South Korea.
Samsung will reportedly release the 5G variant of the Galaxy S10 later on in the year. That's because it has to wait for carriers to launch their commercial 5G networks. Carriers in South Korea and the US are expected to do that in Q1 2019.
5G Galaxy S10 model number suggests US and South Korea launch
The SM-G973F will be the model number for the Galaxy S10 Lite. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ will be SM-G970F and SM-G975F. Information reviewed by our friends over at GalaxyClub suggests that the fourth Galaxy S10 variant will have model number SM-G977 – SM-G977N and SM-G977U to be precise. These will be the models for South Korea and the United States if a device with this number gets released. No SM-G977F has been spotted but that's understandable since the 5G model would only be offered in limited markets.
It can't be said with absolute certainty, though, that this will be the 5G Galaxy S10. No further information is available right now to tie this model number to that device. We do know that Samsung is working on one. It has essentially confirmed it for Verizon and AT&T in the US itself.
One could also speculate that this may be that beast of a Galaxy S10 model referred to in a recent report. The one that's believed to feature a total of six cameras, a 6.7-inch display, 5G and the ability to wirelessly charge another phone with its battery. This is just pure speculation right now, though.
Things may start to clear up in the coming weeks as February draws near. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S10 at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona come February 2019.
