Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 lineup at its Unpacked event in San Francisco today. It comes in four different models, including a 5G variant with beefed-up specs. While all of them pack powerful cameras, the specifications are different on each variant. To fully exploit the capabilities of these shooters, Samsung has introduced many new camera-focused features – one of which is a built-in Instagram mode in the native camera app.

Adam Mosseri, Head of Product at Instagram, took the stage at the Galaxy Unpacked event to show and talk about the new Instagram mode. The mode lets users capture and upload photos and videos directly to their Instagram stories from the Galaxy S10’s native camera app. It includes all the usual Instagram editing tools, filters, stickers, hashtags, text effects, and more to offer an easy and satisfying Instagram experience without leaving the native camera app. Samsung claims it is the “best Instagram experience on a smartphone.” Demonstrating the new mode, Adam Mosseri took a selfie with Samsung’s mobile chief, DJ Koh, at the event and uploaded it to Instagram without leaving the camera app.

While it may not be a major technical advancement like the Galaxy Fold, it still has immense potential to appeal to the younger generation. Samsung is also opening up its camera SDK to other partners to bring similar experiences to the native camera app. It also enables developers to bring Samsung camera prowess to third-party apps. What this essentially means is that pictures taken in third-party apps can now be as good as the ones taken with the native app. Snapchat, Snow, and Line have been announced as the first wave of partners to utilize the new SDK.

You can watch the demonstration of the Instagram Mode in the below video.
