Amazfit says its new Helio Ring is crafted for athletes, beats Samsung to the punch

Chinese wearable brand Amazfit overtook Samsung in the emerging smart ring game and announced its first wearable of this type, the Helio Ring, at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. Amazfit intends to release the Helio Ring this spring, but availability by country is unclear. Nevertheless, there's a high probability that Amazfit will beat Samsung to the finish line.

The Helio Ring is made from titanium alloy, measures 2.6mm in thickness, and weighs only 4 grams. Amazfit says the Helio Ring is “crafted for elite athletes” as “the ultimate in athletic recovery analysis and guidance” and can improve workouts and sleep quality.

The Amazfit Helio Ring can track heart rate, blood oxygen, stress levels, and sleep data. (via Android Central). It can be used by itself or work along with an Amazfit smartwatch for improved accuracy via additional data points.

Available in two sizes this year

Amazfit intends to release the Helio Ring in two sizes, 10 and 12. Wearers will be able to track exercises like running, walking, treadmill workouts, and cycling, but it's unclear if the Helio Ring supports more exercise types. It is, however, 10ATM water-resistant, which could mean it can track swimming.

Pricing details are unknown, but the Helio Ring is said to go on sale in spring 2024. Whether it will debut globally remains to be seen.

As for Samsung, the company likely won't reveal its Galaxy Ring at the next Unpacked event, with recent rumors indicating that the company may have pushed back its release plans to late 2024 or early 2025.
