There have been rumors about Samsung launching its next-gen foldable phones earlier than its usual time frame. Some reports suggested that the South Korean firm could unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 as soon as the last week of July 2023. And it looks like that will be the case, as another report has claimed something similar.
According to a report from TheElec, Samsung is considering an early launch event for the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The smartphones could be unveiled 2-3 weeks earlier than their predecessors. So, we can expect to see official information about the two upcoming foldable Galaxy smartphones in July 2023. Usually, Samsung launches its foldable phones in August every year.
Samsung wants to launch Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 early to make its Q3 2023 numbers less miserable
Apparently, the company wants to make its Q3 2023 numbers less miserable, as this is a really tough year for all consumer electronic firms. Samsung has already seen its profits tumble 95% in Q1 2023 as its semiconductor chip business has seen its first loss in fourteen years. So, the company wants to return good numbers in the third quarter, and that would be possible if it starts selling the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in late July or early August.
Samsung has reportedly ordered components for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 a few weeks earlier than usual. These are the parts that have seen significant changes, including the waterdrop-shaped hinge, which makes the phone more durable and makes the screen crease less visible. However, other parts are on the company's usual production schedule.
The report also claims that Samsung will use the same M12 OLED material-based screens in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. That is the same material that is used in the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. If this information is correct, we can't expect significantly higher screen brightness with Samsung's upcoming phones.
