Respawn Entertainment has announced Season 19 for Apex Legends, and the name of this season is Ignite. The new season will be released on October 31, 2023, and it brings many changes to the game, including a new character called Conduit and updates to the map. However, Apex Legends: Ignite will also bring a feature that many players have been requesting and waiting for a long time, and that’s cross-progression.

What is cross-progression?

Cross-progression, as the name suggests, allows you to carry your progress from one platform to another. For example, if you have achieved new levels and rewards in Apex Legends while playing the game on Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5), you will be able to continue playing from the same level and access those rewards in the game on your PC as well. The ability to do so enables people to shift between platforms without losing their progress.

As you might know, to play Apex Legends on any platform, you need to sign in to the game using an EA account. So, if you play Apex Legends on PS5 and PC, you might have signed in to the game on both platforms with the same EA account. However, you will have different profiles in the game on the two platforms. According to Respawn Entertainment, these profiles will be merged with the arrival of cross-progression in Season 19.

How will cross-progression work in Apex Legends?

The profile with the highest level will be made your primary profile, and Apex Coins, content (such as skins), achievements, and badges from other profiles will be added to the primary profile. Once this happens, “stats/progress of the other platforms will no longer be accessible.” “For players who have multiple platforms with the same highest level: your primary platform will be the one with the highest level that you last logged in on.

A few things will not be merged, such as platform-exclusive content. You can read more about it on EA’s website. According to the game developer, players will be notified about cross-progression and account merging with an in-game message. The new feature will be rolled out in phases to “ensure stability for this anticipated feature.” So, don't worry if your friend got this feature and you didn't. Just keep an eye out for the message.
