2022 is on its way out, and we are just a month away from 2023. As a tradition, Google Play is back with its Users' Choice Awards, where it names the best Android apps and games of 2022. The list also contains 20 “Best Of” categories, which is basically a list of the 20 best apps and games for the year and is localized based on your country.

For the year 2022, BeReal social media app takes away the Users' Choice app award in the USA. In 2021, the award went to Paramount+ and Disney+. This year, it is a social media app replacing streaming services. Speaking of the number one app, when you sign up on BeReal, you are asked to post unfiltered photos of yourself every day at a different time.

This way, not only are you unfiltered, but you are also showing exactly what you were doing at that particular time instead of cooking something up just for the sake of your social media post, like in other apps. The best overall app is Dream by Wombo, which makes use of AI to generate images from whatever you type in. All you need to do is type in a few words, for example, “girl with a hat,” pick a style of the art, and hit the generate button to get yourself an AI-generated portrait of your “dreams.”

In the game awards section, it is Apex Legends Mobile that not only swept away the Users' Choice award but was also named the best overall game. Since its release, the game has consistently ranked among the top ten most downloaded games, and its fresh take on the battle royale genre has helped it reach the top of the 2022 list.
