Samsung has equipped the Galaxy S24 with several new camera features and improvements. Some of those improvements are powered by the more powerful processors used in the Galaxy S24 series. Some advanced camera features are not available by default, though, and come as a part of the Camera Assistant and Expert RAW apps.
Camera Assistant update brings support for some Galaxy S24 camera features
The Camera Assistant has now received an update to support some advanced camera features present on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The version 2.1.00.1 of the app is now available on the Galaxy Store, and it brings some features we mentioned in this article. The update brings shortcuts for 10x and 100x zoom levels in the stock camera app.
The DOF Adapter Correction feature is now available, and it automatically corrects images flipped when the Galaxy S24 is attached to an external depth-of-field adapter. This correction is applied only in Pro and Pro Video modes. The update also brings the Anamorphic Lens Correction feature, which automatically corrects camera distortion that appears when using external anamorphic lenses to the phone. This feature is limited to Pro Video mode and when using the 16:9 aspect ratio. However, it doesn't work when a 120fps frame rate or 8K resolution is being used.
The new Camera Assistant update also brings the Audio Monitoring feature to the Galaxy S24. It allows users to monitor the audio that is to be recorded in the video through an external output device, which includes Bluetooth earphones/headphones, HDMI devices, or USB earphones. Please note that these features are only compatible with the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. They will likely not come to older smartphones. The Galaxy S24 Ultra can capture 24MP photos via the Expert RAW app.
