Earlier this week, Samsung released the April 2024 security patch for the international variant of the Galaxy A53 5G. Now, the company is expanding the same security update to the carrier-unlocked variant of the device for the United States, which carries the model number SM-A536U1.
The new software update bumps the phone’s firmware version to A536U1UES8DXD7. Apart from the April 2024 security patch, which fixes 44 security issues, the software update doesn’t offer anything else. The update is currently live on AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Cricket, Comcast, Dish, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.
If you have a carrier-unlocked Galaxy A53 5G that’s running on the network mentioned above, your device should automatically notify you about the new update. If it hasn’t, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download the update from our firmware section and install it manually.
The Galaxy A53 5G is eligible to get One UI 6.1, which brings a plethora of new features that you can check in our video below. While the phone is far from reaching its end of life, if you are planning to upgrade to a new device, the recently launched Galaxy A55 could be a perfect choice for you.
