Last week, the carrier-unlocked models of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, and the Galaxy S20 FE 5G received the May 2022 security update in the US. Today, the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G has started getting the new security update in the US.
The newest software update for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G (SM-G781U) comes with firmware version G781USQS7FVD4. Only Sprint has released the update as of now, but we expect all other US carriers to release the update within the next few days. The May 2022 security patch fixes various privacy and security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones. It might also fix general software bugs and improve system stability.
If you have a carrier-locked model of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in the US, you can now download and install the new software update on your device. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
