The Galaxy S21 was the first Samsung phone to get the September 2022 security update. The new software was first released to the international variants of the series. Now, the update has been released in the US to the carrier-locked versions of the devices in the lineup.
The latest software update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with firmware version G99xUSQS5CVHC. The update will soon be released to the unlocked models of the smartphones. The September 2022 security patch that's included in the new software fixes dozens of security vulnerabilities.
If you are a Galaxy S21 series smartphone user in the US, you can install the new software on your device by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
Samsung debuted the Galaxy S21 series early last year with Android 11-based One UI 3 software. The devices received the Android 12-based One UI 4 update late last year. They will get at least two more Android OS updates, including the Android 13-based One UI 5, in the future.
