The Galaxy A51 5G didn't get the same exposure or a release as widespread as the Galaxy A52 5G, and that's probably part of the reason why the A51 5G never got software updates that regularly. And now that the A51 5G is a little over two years old, it was recently relegated to biannual security updates, and it seems Samsung's sticking to that schedule.
The Galaxy A51 5G has received a new software update after considerable time, at least in some markets. This new update brings over the June 2022 security patch – yes, the July 2022 security patch isn't included, but we guess a security patch that's one month old is not that bad of a thing. The update also increases overall stability of the device, but that's all the info Samsung is providing, as is expected from its traditionally poor changelogs.
At the moment, the update is available in the Nordic region and Slovakia, and it will probably take a few weeks to expand to other countries and regions. You can try to download the update over the air from your phone's Settings » Software update menu or grab the firmware from our archives. Whichever way you choose to upgrade, don't expect much to change once you're on the new firmware version (A516BXXU5DVG4).
However, do keep in mind that your Galaxy A51 5G will receive a major update a few months down the line. The A51 5G (also the regular A51) is eligible for Android 13, though that will be its last major OS upgrade before Samsung moves software support focus to newer devices.
